Dear friends,

We find ourselves in circumstances very different from those we imagined only a week ago. I hope you are all keeping safe and well, and that this new reality that we face will not grind us down nor drive us apart. As you may have seen, we were able to broadcast a short service on Sunday, and will endeavour to do so every Sunday. But you may find resources helpful for daily prayer: please follow this link to access 'Daily Prayer, especially in the morning'.

The Church Times are releasing a weekly sheet of prayers and reflections. For the first issue click here.

You will also find further help by going to the Church of England Website.

I will try to email news and updates as the situation develops, especially if further restrictions are imposed.

Meanwhile this comes with all my best wishes and prayers.

Jon

A Prayer for Everyone Near and Far

For all who are affected by coronavirus,

through illness or isolation or anxiety,

that they may find relief and recovery:

For those who are guiding our nation at this time,

and shaping national policies,

that they may make wise decisions:

For doctors, nurses and medical researchers,

that through their skill and insights many will be restored to health

For the vulnerable and the fearful,

for the gravely ill and the dying,

for those who have died, and for all who mourn

that they may know your comfort and peace

For our own community here in the Allen Valleys

for all who are in any kind of need;

for families with fractious children at home,

for older people isolated from their families,

for working people, anxious about their livelihood;

for farmers, working to keep us all fed,

for shopkeepers, supplying food and necessities,

for delivery drivers and emergency workers,

for medical staff and all who care for the vulnerable.

And for peoples and communities across the country, and across the world,

through him who suffered on the cross to bring us new life,

Jesus Christ our Saviour. Lord hear us.
