Increasing biodiversity in your garden – 15th May 2022

Here are some ideas to help the wildlife in your garden:

• Choose plants that provide pollen and nectar for as long as possible
• Grow a mix of trees, shrubs and climbers
• Look after mature trees
• Add water
• Leave a pile of dead wood in a shady spot
• Provide food and water for birds
• Compost!
• Don’t be too tidy
• Allow some grass to grow longer
• Garden sustainably – for example avoiding peat based compost, recycle when you can
• Scatter wildflower seeds
• Make a rock garden
