You may have seen a recent article by the BBC about a reduction in meat consumption in the UK in the last decade – down by 17%.
Eating less meat is one of the ways we can significantly reduce the environmental impact of our diets.
The National Food Strategy recommends meat consumption should fall by 30% in the next 10 years.
Here are some helpful ideas if you want to make a start reducing the amount of meat you eat:
• Try one new vegetarian recipe
• Make one meal in the day vegetarian rather than going the whole day without meat
• Reduce the portion size – for example in a recipe that uses meat (like bolognaise) reduce the amount of meat and supplement it with lentils or vegetables.
